2026 Kitchen Remodeling Trends

2026 Kitchen Remodeling Trends

Rustic-kitchen-island New year, new kitchen! Or at least that’s how it goes right? It’s finally 2026 which means it’s time to make that dream kitchen of yours come to life. Whether you’re spending more time at home working remotely or living in a home that’s due for an upgrade, it’s the perfect time to start on gathering inspiration for your dream kitchen remodel. If you’re reading this, you’re already one step ahead of the game. Doing your research and collecting ideas for your inspiration board is a great first step! With that, let’s dive into these 2026 kitchen remodeling trends you must know about straight from our design experts at Sea Pointe Design & Remodel.

1. Double-Jointed Corner Cabinet

This design invention will change your life. You absolutely need a double-jointed corner cabinet in your kitchen remodel. This cabinet door has hinges that allow it to be opened smoothly and fully in two simple pull motions. By opening fully, this allows you more storage space to fit and store your large pots and pans, utilizing the cabinet and corner space efficiently. There are many different cabinet styles to choose from when designing your kitchen, even with a feature like this. Some options include adding an automatic light inside the cabinet, so that when you open the cabinet door, the light automatically goes on allowing you to clearly see deep inside. We all know that big corners can be far too see in, so this light helps you to see what’s directly back there for easy access and it’s perfect for cleaning. Another great option for the double-jointed cabinet design is having a pull-out shelf with full extension. This is when the shelves inside of the cabinet pull out so that you don’t have to even reach inside to grab any pots or pans. Some options even include railings to keep everything in place and organized. From gaining 50% more of your storage space, keeping your cabinets organized, and being able to reach for what you need without getting on the floor in any weird positions that could strain your body, there are many benefits to including this 2021 kitchen remodeling trend in your dream kitchen!

2. Hidden Kitchen Features

Three words: hidden electrical outlet. This is also a game changer in any kitchen in the 21st century where technology has taken over. We know that counterspace is extremely valuable and one way to create more is by moving your electronic appliances in cabinets where there is an electrical outlet inside. This allows you to hide your bulky appliances, while creating a sleeker countertop space and it is still accessible for easy-to-use access. Take for example this hutch with a garage door style cabinet. This is a kitchen designed and built by Sea Pointe Design & Remodel. We created the perfect spot for this toaster to live in this gorgeous white hutch where there is also an electrical outlet. This allows for easy access when making toast in the morning. With one easy pull of the cabinet, the toaster is ready for use! Of course, there are so many other appliances that you can put in a cabinet with an electrical outlet. Some other useful options are a blender or even a mixer that sits on an extendable pull-out shelf that pulls out to the countertop level for easy access. We understand that every kitchen is different, and everyone has their own practices inside their space. Our designers make sure to work with you to tailor your kitchen design perfect for your exact needs. More of our favorite hidden features that continue to trend in 2026 are the hidden refrigerator and hidden dishwasher. This hidden refrigerator pictured in the slide above is a great example of a remodel with this feature we designed and built in Dana Point of Orange County. This full-sized refrigerator is paneled to match the rest of the existing cabinetry and blend in with the kitchen design. Even the pulls match the rest of the other cabinets. This is a sleek look that we will continue to see as it never fails to bring the kitchen an overall cohesive design. Another 2026 kitchen remodeling trend is the hidden dishwasher. This design allows your dishwasher to blend in with the rest of your kitchen by hiding in your kitchen island or under your perimeter countertop. A dishwasher is a must-have in a busy home and our design experts say this trend will be here to stay in 2026!

3. Gold and White Kitchen

White-on-white kitchens were extremely popular in 2024, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it is out of style for 2021 or ever going out of style for that matter. Our design professionals suggest that in 2026 we’re seeing a lot more kitchen designs that have a pop of color or warm wood trends. Whether that means an all-white kitchen with a pop of color for the island, hood, or backsplash, you can expect to see more kitchen designs like this. Even with a dash of bold color, we’re also noticing the trend of more gold and white kitchen designs. In 2026, many are looking to add a more luxurious aesthetic into their homes and adding a touch of gold into their kitchen design seems to do just that. Many kitchen design like this include white kitchen cabinets with gold knobs and pulls. Gold pendants are also a trending kitchen design we will see more of in 2026. Another great example of gold elements is this gold Kohler sink faucet pictured above that captivates your eyes with one glance, immediately adding elegance into this Lake Forest kitchen design we built in Orange County. Gold and white are also colors that complement different styles. They are warm enough colors that fit a rustic kitchen remodel and elegant enough for a modern kitchen of marble or traditional two-toned kitchen. Trending in 2026, a wood and gold kitchen will give you a more airy and elegant design.

4. Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Design

Among 2026 kitchen remodeling trends, expect to see more modern farmhouse kitchen designs. Adding wooden floors, rustic metals and elements into a kitchen gives it a more laid back and earthy aesthetic. However, now we are going to see this but with more of a modern twist. By adding other design elements such as marble-look-alike quartz countertops, all-white cabinets and backsplash, and hidden design features, this adds a modern touch that will give the perfect balance of charming and timeless. Pictured in the first images above, everything from the flawless wooden floors, to the gold sink, to the straw pendant lights, exemplify a beautiful farmhouse design and complemented with the white quartz countertop, white cabinets and backsplash, this kitchen design shows off the perfect definition of modern farmhouse. Swipe from the images above and you will see a stunning kitchen we designed and built in San Clemente, that flaunts a bright copper farmhouse sink and a custom wooden island bracket topped with a Taj Mahal quartzite countertop. This is another great modern farmhouse design, but with nice color! Swipe a bit further and you will come across a small but mighty modern farmhouse kitchen remodel by Sea Pointe Design & Remodel in San Juan Capistrano. The two-toned kitchen with natural wood and a smooth white quartz countertop gives it the modern touch. Using a bold blue color, this smaller kitchen is another modern farmhouse kitchen we love and will continue to see more of in 2026. Lastly, is an all-white kitchen with a bold black custom hood with a wood trim that complements the kitchen island with a matching wood backsplash on the inside. The hood is a stunning statement piece in this modern farmhouse kitchen. 2026 is the year to make your kitchen remodeling dreams come true. For the third year in a row, award-winning Sea Pointe Design & Remodel partnered up with Thomas House Family Shelter to help provide a new home for a family in need. The goal is to provide a clean, safe, and supportive environment for a single mother and her two children.

This year Sea Pointe took it one step further and asked their own employees to donate their time and labor. The Sea Pointe crew came out energized and eager to help! They performed all demolition including prepping, priming, and applying a new coat of paint to the entire unit. Sea Pointe donated and installed all new cabinetry and countertops for the kitchen and bathroom. They also removed all the old flooring and partnered with Galleher LLC & MHCC Inc. to install brand new flooring throughout the entire unit.

I am so thankful to be able to donate my time and pay it forward to help a mother and her two children get back on their feet. Sometimes all it takes is a helping hand and I am so glad there are organizations out there such as Thomas House Foundation to help those in need,” quoted an employee from Sea Pointe Design & Remodel.

In 1986, Mary and Bernie Selz officially founded Thomas House Family Shelter. With the help of generous friends and support from the City of Garden Grove and the County of Orange, Thomas House now owns two apartment complexes with a total of 24 apartment units.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Thomas House has provided over 1,500 families with shelter that is rent-free. They provide the opportunity for a fresh start with a goal to maintain permanent housing while helping to monitor and better their personal finances. They also offer programs including Career Development, youth mentoring, youth sports as well as enrichment programs to help our youths to overcome the cycle of poverty and prepare them for a successful future.

We are truly honored to be able to participate with the Thomas House Foundation to help bring good fortune to families in need,” commented Andy Shore, President, and Owner of Sea Pointe Design & Remodel.

The Thomas Houses goal is to partner up with compassionate business’ such as Sea Pointe Design & Remodel to help renovate its units and provide an updated and safe environment for new families.

Sea Pointe Design & Remodel Partners with Galleher to Remodel New Unit at Thomas House Family Shelter

Sea Pointe Design & Remodel Partners with Galleher to Remodel New Unit at Thomas House Family Shelter

Award winning residential design and build firm, Sea Pointe Design & Remodel, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of a newly remodeled unit for a family in need at Thomas House Family Shelter. Sea Pointe has donated brand new cabinetry and has partnered with Galleher to provide 825 square feet of GemCore Stone Composite Flooring to renovate the unit in Garden Grove for a more modern design.

“We are honored to have been invited by Sea Pointe Design & Remodel to be part of the Thomas House renovation,” comments Jim Harrington, Galleher VP of Marketing. “Projects like these offer an opportunity for us to play a small part in working towards housing solutions.”

This is the second unit Sea Pointe has partnered with Thomas House to renovate during the Covid-19 pandemic. Families who reside at the shelter were previously living in unstable housing, or uninhabitable living conditions. For 35 years, Thomas House has provided over 1,500 families shelter that is rent-free and an opportunity for a fresh start with a goal to maintain permanent housing while monitoring and bettering their personal finances.

“90% of the families find permanent housing and full-time employment, and 90% of the children increase their academic services,” says Shakoya Green, Thomas House Executive Director.

Sea Pointe Design & Remodel is honored to be able to use their expertise and services to help Thomas House and these families in a way that will empower them for years to come.

“Each parent must work full-time and save 80 percent of their income, enabling families to build their savings and learn essential life skills.  As a result, in an average 12-month stay, families can save a minimum of 2 to 3 months expenses and transition to permanent housing of their own,” says Green.

The cabinetry and floor look fantastic! We are all so impressed with the outcome. We are excited to welcome a new family and see their reaction to their new home,” says Green.

5 Types of Residential Remodeling Contractors to Know About

5 Types of Residential Remodeling Contractors to Know About

Residential-home-remodelers

You are ready to remodel your home or make a few home improvements but do not quite know who to contact to do the job. What if we told you that there are five main types of residential remodeling contractors that you should know about? Yes, that is right – five! And out of those five, each contractor operates differently with unique goals, business models, and skills.

Different Types of Remodeling Contractors

Depending on the type of project your home needs, this will determine who you should hire for the job. The last thing you want is to work with a contractor that does not offer the full services that you are looking for. Whether you are looking to do a whole home remodel, historical restoration or residential service, such as just simply repairing your roofing or switching out a garage door, each of these will require working with a different type of contractor. We break down for you the five different types of residential remodeling contractors you should know about before starting on your home remodel.

1. Design/Build and Whole House Remodeling

Design/build-whole-house-remodeling

Design/Build companies for the whole house, kitchen, or bathroom remodeling are general residential contractors who make magic happen. They bring your remodeling vision to life by guiding you through the whole process of creating a design and managing the construction building with a team of professionals in one house. For example, Sea Pointe Design & Remodel is a design/build firm, which means when you work with us to remodel your whole home, kitchen, bathroom, or master suite. We work with you every step of the way to guide you through the process from start to finish while implementing value engineering. Design/build firms are basically the Tesla of residential remodeling.

Q: What are the pros and cons of using a Design/Build firm?

A: Working with a design/build firm like Sea Pointe Design & Remodel means you get the full quality service experience when remodeling your home. For each project that requires structural engineering, designing a new space, and construction, our team consists of your project’s lead designer, structural engineer, project planner, and project manager. This allows us to have multiple eyes on your project, while giving you the homeowner, the most cost-efficient solutions.

The con of using a design/build firm would be if it is simply just not the best fitting project. If you have a tight budget and are looking for a service contractor to repair your flooring, cabinetry, or roofing, without making any design or structural changes, you are better off working with a residential service contractor. This will save you money and this type of smaller project does not require working with a design/build firm.

2. Historical Restorations

Historical-restoration-contractors

Historical restoration projects require a different type of service than home remodeling or a kitchen renovation. Often, restoration contractors are best for fixing a home that has wind, water, or even fire damage. They are a type of contractor who specializes in and has a great amount of experience working with your insurance company throughout the process. If you are looking to restore your home without making updates or relocating plumbing or electrical fixtures to how it was prior to damage caused by a natural disaster, your best bet is hiring a restoration contractor. They are the best fit for this type of project.

Q: What are the pros and cons of using a Design/Build firm for a restoration project?

A: The pro of hiring a design/build firm for this type of project is you will get to start with a clean slate if you would like to make updates to your home after you have restored it with a restoration contractor and settling with your insurance company. Then, you will be able to start fresh with the intention of upgrading your home with a new design and budget.

The con of wanting to hire a design/build firm solely for restoration, is that they are not as equipped as special restoration contractors when it comes to experience working with insurance companies to work on restoring damages caused by natural disasters.

3. Residential Remodeling Contractors

Residential-remodeling-contractor

General contractors are one of the vaster options you have when deciding to remodel your kitchen or bathroom. There are so many to choose from because these tend to be less experienced one-man-band contractors. They are more fitting for small projects that will require no structural changes such as tearing down walls, beams or relocating electrical or plumbing fixtures. Smaller projects take less time than whole home remodels. They require less staff, but you will have to be involved more in the process, starting with coming up with a design plan. Be prepared for change orders as well. If deciding to go this route, then you can also expect to have some delays due to there only being one person handling the construction, accounting, driving sales for new business, warranty, and more. One person managing all the above means less time to focus on your project.

Q: What are the pros and cons of using a Design/Build firm for residential remodeling?

A: The pros of using a design/build firm for residential remodeling if you are looking to do a whole house remodel are that there is a team of staff, each focusing on a different business area of your project. There is a designer that will work with you to bring your vision to reality and guide you through the materials and options you have while staying within your budget. There is a project manager who keeps a close eye on your project to make sure everything is being done with quality completion and on schedule. Design/build firms also take care of the permitting process according to what city you live in, leaving you without the headache and extra work. Having a flexible budget gives you the quality service you deserve when remodeling your whole home.

The con is, it can be more fitting for you to work with a general contractor if you are looking to do a small project that you do not care too much for the design functionality in mind, while also working with a very low budget. But keep in mind, that when working with a general contractor, your cost can go up if you have many change orders, which typically does not happen when working with a design/build company.

4. Home Additions

Home additions are a type of home remodel where you are looking to add more square footage to a space. Whether you are interested in building a new laundry room, bathroom, home office, or gym, with proper design and construction, this can make a big change in how you utilize the space. Home additions vary in complexity and cost, depending on the type of project and the scope of the renovation including wall removals, relocating plumbing and electrical, and more. Fitting for home addition contractors are design/build firms and whole house remodeling contractors. They are typically better for this type of remodeling project because they offer design. Going with an addition contractor can mean they will not necessarily offer a design. They are there to build. If you plan to hire a designer separately, then this option would be a good fit for you.

Q: What are the pros and cons of using a Design/Build firm for a home addition?

A: The pro of using a design/build firm for a home addition is that they will provide the design for the renovation. They will work with you to select materials while also managing the building of the project and permitting, appropriate to the city you live in.

The con is if you wanted to hire a designer separately, which may end up costing you more on time and money, then you may find a whole house remodeling contractor more fitting.

5. Residential Service Contractors

Residential service contractors are contractors that are trade-specific. This type of remodeling contractor is best if you are interested in a specific service like switching out your garage door, windows or re-tiling your bathroom floor but are not interested in a new design or a renovation that requires any structural engineering. These service contractors hold the skills and right materials for that specific project that is on a smaller scale.

Overall, when it comes to your next home remodeling project, take into consideration what kind of project you are looking to get accomplished. By consolidating your renovation goals, it will make it easier for you to narrow down what type of residential contractor to hire for the job to make the most of your time and money.
